A new deal.
That’s the assurance from the president of BARP, Marilyn Rice-Bowen to its members enrolled in its comprehensive health plan.
BARP has reached an agreement with Lynch Insurance Brokers which goes into effect from November 28th 2020 which will allow thousands of 50+ plus members of BARP to continue to benefit from affordable coverage.
BARP’s president Marilyn Rice Bowen said of the new arrangement, “our members' welfare is paramount to us at BARP.”
There will be no disruption for members of the plan and there will be opportunities for BARP members who are not enrolled to join the plan which offers significant medical benefits.
BARP thanks Gallagher Insurance for having served as its broker. That arrangement ends on November 27th 2020.
Lynch Insurance Brokers is the largest such operation in Barbados and has a reputation as being a strong business with many years of experience in the industry.
BARP which was established 25 years ago has a membership of 26 000.
Health Insurance premiums can no longer be paid by cheque at any of the Surepay locations. Cheques will ONLY be accepted at the BARP office.

The new Medical plan is specially designed to provide all members of BARP and their respective immediate family with access to a wide range of medical insurance benefits that would otherwise be very costly for many members to purchase on an individual basis.
ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE
Persons joining BARP on the attainment of age 50 are eligible to join the plan immediately. Members between the ages of 51 and 59 years will require medical evidence of insurability satisfactory to the insurer, at the member’s expense, prior to approval of coverage. BARP members age 60 and over will NOT be eligible to join the Health plan.
