We refer to the notice received from the Management Team of the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) advising BARP of the decision to not renew the medical insuranceplan when it comes up for renewal on August 1, 2016.
Please be advised that BARP has appointed a Consultant who is actively engaged in canvassing the insurance market in an effort to identify a replacement medical insurance plan for BARP.
A second meeting of the Golden Health Plan Members will be scheduled in the near future to
provide an update on any new developments in respect to a replacement plan as soon as such
information becomes available.
Members are encouraged to continue to pay their premiums to the Golden Health Plan for the
remainder of its duration, i.e. until the expiration date of July 31, 2016. Members will be able
to continue to make claims under the Golden Health Plan, in the usual way and within the
normal 90 day period, for any service provided up to the plan’s expiration. Also, it is our
intention to request consideration from any interested insurance carrier to grant entry to fully
paid up members of the existing Golden Health Plan into any replacement plan without
requiring provision of evidence of insurability.
Members are advised that there will be no refund of the deductible and no provision to continue
to pay for the life benefit component of the plan.
