BIO - Ed Bushell

Mr Edward Bushell is the President of the Barbados Association of Retired Persons, a position he has held for the last 4 years. He is presently an Industrial Relations and Training Advisor to major companies in Barbados and the Caribbean, including the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association and LIAT (1974) Ltd. He is a member of the World Bank Arbitration Panel. He completed a tour of duty as Barbados’ Consul General in Miami with responsibility for the South East of the USA. Mr. Bushell has a wealth of experience in the areas of General Management, Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations having served in various senior management positions in Barbados and internationally. He has advised major companies in Barbados during periods of restructuring, mergers or acquisitions, and has also served on the Boards of a number of Private Sector companies as well as a number of Statutory Corporations, Educational institutions and Government agencies. These include the National Productivity Council, Grantley Adams International Airport, GEMS of Barbados Hotels, and the Barbados Tourism Authority and Chairman of The Combermere School. He has also served as a member of the Executive Council of the Barbados Workers Union.

Mr Bushell represented Barbados as an Alternate Member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation in Geneva, and was a Governor of the Consular College in the USA. He has held the position of Executive Director, and then President of the Barbados Employers’ Confederation, and is a founder member of the Human Resource Management Association of Barbados. Mr. Bushell is the recipient of numerous awards including, the Marriott Hotel Manager of the Year Award, the Caribbean Employers’ Confederation Award for Distinguished Service, the Ministry of Education Award for Contribution to Curriculum Development, the National Productivity Council’s Appreciation Award and Award for contribution to its Education Program, and the Human Resource Management Association of Barbados’ Pioneer Award. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 2006 (Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA).

An active proponent of “Healthy Aging”, Mr Bushell is President of the Barbados Masters and Seniors Athletic Club.
